ACP cultural observatory
The Declarations of Ministers of Culture in Santo Domingo (2006) and in Dakar (2003) embody the will of ACP States to respond to this need to promote and strengthen the ACP cultural industries. They also give the mandate allowing the implementation of the ACP Cultural Observatory. The ACP Cultural Observatory is conceived as a pilot project. It aims at providing support to the ACP Countries in the understanding of the emerging trends and features of cultural industries. In the long run, it should contribute to the fostering of legal and institutional frame works, support the progressive implementation of public policies and reinforce knowledge and capacities of ACP decision makers and operators involved in the cultural domain. Arts in Africa
The idea of the Arts in Africa website was born in 2007 at the Arterial Conference on revitalizing African Cultural assets held in Goree Island in Senegal. One of the resolutions made at the conference was the need to create a repository of information, resources and material on African arts and culture. Accordingly, the Arterial Network, with the support of the European Union and HIVOS decided to produce, host and maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date website on African arts, culture, heritage and the creative industries. The objective of this website is to be a one stop portal for information about the arts in Africa listed by country as well as discipline. It includes information on UNESCO branches, Funding Agencies, E-newsletters, Cultural Policy, Creative Industries, Events, Conferences, Training Institutions and civil society organisations among others.
