NOTE: If your organisation has already applied, you will receive feedback from our team very soon – do not submit a second application. Please get in touch if you wish to withdraw your application after reading the IMPORTANT NOTICE below.

About the SHIRIKA Programme

Created in partnership between Arterial Network and Cultural Development Trust and with seed funding from Africalia, SHIRIKA’s vision is an African creative sector that is healthy, thriving economically and socially thanks to the sustainability, performance and governance of its organisations. The methodology and content of the programme is designed as a continuous and growing process from the input of both experts and beneficiaries.

About the Call for Applications for SHIRIKA 2016 Training

  1. Organisations that meet the requirements below and are able to submit a full application will be selected to attend a 3-day training workshop.

The training will cover two modules:

a. Understanding of Governance (Definitions and values, relationships between governing bodies, accountability and reporting with study of annual reports etc.)

b. Financial Management (Business planning, Multi-funder budgeting, grant management, financial procedures, financial reporting etc.)

The training will take place in the following cities:

Cape Town, South Africa: 29,30,31 August; Bulawayo, Zimbabwe: 7,8,9 September; Kampala, Uganda: 19, 20, 21 September; Mbabane, Swaziland: 26, 27, 28 September; Dar es Salam, Tanzania: 10,11,12 October; Nairobi, Kenya: 1, 2, 3 November

The final list of selected participants will be announced by the 15th of August 2016.

  1. Six months after the workshop, each trainee organisation will also be asked to submit via email a portfolio of evidence (POE) to assess how they have implemented the information and tools from the workshop within their organisations. After evaluation of the POE, organisations that qualify will be sent a certificate of competence and recommendations for further improvements.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The training fees will be covered by Arterial Network. Lunches and printed material will be provided during the 3-day workshop. However, all travel expenses and accommodation costs will not be covered by the programme. Organisations that are not based in the cities where the training is taking place are welcome to apply for the training, but will need to cover their own travel, food (except lunch) and accommodation costs.
