Lcc Program is a bi-annual award supporting contemporary African photography through giving an emerging artist their first solo exhibition and a cash prize of 2000 USD. Established by Fondation Alliances in 2013, the Lcc Program is now in its seventh edition.
Living photographers without gallery representation and not currently in educational progams are eligible to apply. The award focuses on artists from Africa, its diaspora and those living and working on the continent. The winning artist’s exhibition will take place in autumn 2018 and support in promoting their work and the prize money will also be awarded at this time.
The Lcc Program prize builds on Fondation Alliances’ history of supporting cultural development in Morocco and across Africa. In addition to the production of a first solo exhibition, the prize supports individual award winners in the evolution of their creative approach, providing the means necessary to present, develop and disseminate their visual expression. The Lcc team draws support for the award from jury members and other art professionals including journalists, gallerists, artists and academics. Previous winners of the prize include Maya-Inès Touam (b. France), Adil Kourkouni (b. Morocco), Mohamed Amine Abassi (b. Tunisia), Youssef Lahrichi (b. Morocco), Fayssal Zaoui (b. Morocco) and Merji (b. Morocco).
