Arterial Network was launched in South Africa at two separate meetings held in Johannesburg on 12 August 2010 and Cape Town on 19 August 2010. The following people are in the committee of this country chapter.

58 PEOPLE TO LAUNCH THE DURBAN REGIONAL CHAPTER OF ARTERIAL NETWORK

At the beginning of the ceremony , Peter Rorvik welcomed guests, acknowledged the presence of Stella Khumalo (HOD for Arts and Culture KZN) and Mr. B.E Mpungose (General Manager-Cultural Affairs for Arts and Culture KZN) amongst others, and introduced the session.

Carole Karemera, Deputy- secretary general of Arterial Network, spoke on the aims, objectives, vision, history, structure, past and future activities of Arterial Network. She also explained categories of membership and how artists can benefit from the network and what artists can also do for the network.

After some uncertainty about Arterial Network structural requirements for a regional chapter, voting for a steering committee finally resulted in the election of an eight-person committee as follows:

The committee will meet to discuss plans for the Arterial Network KZN chapter.

The first official Arterial Network activity in KZN will be a reading group on Africa Day 25 May, co-ordinated by Suzy Bell at the Centre for Creative Arts.
