Previous Article

Dates: 2 - 4 November 2017
Venue: Palais de la Culture, Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire

After ten years of existence, Arterial Network is embarking on a new phase of repositioning and revitalisation of the network, and invites its affiliated member organisations to collaborate on this exciting move forward.

In line with its mission to boost the African creative sector through successful creative industries, Arterial Network organised a series of five annual conferences on the creative economy across the five regions of the continent from 2011 to 2015.

The Arterial Network African Creative Economy Conference (ACEC) was a way of reflecting on the situation and evolution of the creative economy and its contribution to development in Africa. This conference was a unique opportunity to explore the state of the sector in a broader geopolitical and economic context. It provided a framework through which practitioners, policy makers, donors, academics and other stakeholders could interact and become more involved in the serious challenges and innovative solutions that are integral to increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the creative sector in Africa. ACEC was held in: - 2011: Nairobi, Kenya - 2012: Dakar, Senegal - 2013: Cape Town, South Africa - 2014: Rabat, Morocco - 2015: Yaoundé, Cameroon.

During their meeting in Seychelles in June 2016, the Steering Committee of Arterial Network decided to set up a cultural and creative industries fair on the continent in order to give a logical and practical follow-up to the lessons learned from the ACEC.

Conceived as an international platform for exchange, sharing and meeting between professionals in the creative sector, the African Cultural and Creative Industries Fair (FICCA) is a collaborative space with a multiplier effect. The FICCA will gather actors, practitioners and cultural organisations, highlighting best practices and the latest innovations that can help boost the African creative sector on the continent and across the diaspora.

More information about the FICCA will be released soon.
